WM EarthCare Florida
About Us
As part of Waste Management’s environmental stewardship in Florida, we built two state-of-the-art composting facilities to help divert organics from landfills and contribute to the state’s 75 percent recycling goal. Both facilities utilize an enclosed, in-floor, covered aerated static pile (CASP) system. The CASP system doubles output capacity while minimizing the odor and emissions associated with traditional windrow technology.
The Okeechobee Compost Facility is located at Waste Management’s Okeechobee Landfill.in Okeechobee, FL. The facility is permitted to accept up to 45,000 tons per year of organic materials (landscape trimmings, bio solids and food scraps) and is capable of producing 10,000 cubic yards of mature, stable compost a year.
